What to Expect

The investment

You’re on this website most likely because you’re ready to invest in your self and/or your relationship. So here’s what you need to know:

INSURANCE

In my private practice, I do not take insurance. However, I am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Fees For individuals

For individuals, I offer 50 minute therapy sessions at $180 per session.

Fees For couples

Since I find that 90 minute sessions are beneficial for couples, I offer either 50 or 90 minute therapy sessions. 50 minute sessions are $210 and 90 minute sessions are $300.

How to pay

Payment is made with a credit/debit card. All clients need to have an active credit/debit card on file in case of cancellations.

Cancellation Policy

If you have an appointment that needs to be cancelled/ postponed, please contact me at least 24 hours in advance of the appointment. Sessions that are no-shows or cancelled/ postponed within 24 hours will need to be paid in full.

Good Faith Estimate:

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

  • Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

  • You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

  • For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

ONLINE therapy

I offer online therapy - therapy provided via technology. In this case, we use a secure video-conferencing tool like Zoom or FaceTime. This means that your therapy can happen from anywhere (at least anywhere in the state of California)!

For online therapy, all you need is:

—a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet connection or cellular service

—a quiet place where you can be undistracted and is private

Call me and we can set you up for online therapy right away!

First time to therapy?

If you’ve never been to therapy, the first time can be intimidating! But most people say they feel better after our sessions (although at times we uncover painful things that don’t feel great, so there’s that). You’ll possibly cry a lot, but you’ll also laugh a lot, too, and most likely you’ll have some “aha” moments that could shift some big things in your life.

Therapy is for you. While I guide the sessions, it’s your time and your work and your life, and I am your question-asker/reference point/guide/ supporter/cheerleader and mirror.

Just saying it out loud is sometimes all we need. But saying it out loud to those we do life with can get complicated. Sometimes we need an external, neutral, non-judgmental and non-biased space. Our truth is within us, so having a space to discover it in a place of safety is where it’s at.

You set the pace and goals. Most of my clients find that having a standing weekly appointment works best. I will work with you to set the goals for your therapy. You are the one who knows what you want in life…I’m here to support you in creating that.

Walk and Talk therapy

“I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” - John Muir

I also offer “walk and talk” therapy - therapy provided in the outdoors such as at a park. Research shows many benefits of doing therapy outdoors. Experiencing the outdoors as well as the movement of walking during therapy can offer healing and restoration, and a sense of freedom, space and openness.

I currently offer walk and talk therapy at a Palm Desert park during daylight hours. Walk and talk sessions are 45 minutes long and start at 5 minutes past the hour to allow for travel time.

Since it is a client’s choice to do walk and talk therapy, (of course it must be considered therapeutically appropriate by the therapist as well), clients who are interested in walk and talk therapy need to be aware of the following things:

1. HEALTH: Some clients are not eligible for walk and talk therapy as they have health concerns that make it unsafe in some way. Ask yourself: Are there any concerns with being out doors such as difficulty walking, fall hazards, allergies or temperature sensitivities? If there are any concerns, please contact your doctor for information about if walk and talk therapy is right for you.

2. CONFIDENTIALITY: Because we meet in a public park, there is a chance that either I, the therapist or you, the client, will see someone that we know, thus potentially breaking confidentiality. Ask yourself: am I okay with the possibility that others could know that I am doing therapy with this therapist?

3. WEATHER: Weather can become an issue and a distraction during therapy, especially at certain times of the year. Keep in mind that our time is for the purpose of therapy and if there are too many distractions, it may be less effective. In that case, therapist and client can reevaluate the decision to do walk and talk therapy or find parameters that make it work better.
